Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital আয়োজিত SMC MedExpo 2.0-এ গ্রামীণ ও অনানুষ্ঠানিক স্বাস্থ্য পরিষেবা প্রদানকারীদের সঙ্গে প্রতিষ্ঠানের সভাপতি মালয় পিট-এর একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আলোচনা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

শান্তিনিকেতন মেলা : দ্বিতীয় দিনের উৎসবের আবহ

চারদিনব্যাপী শান্তিনিকেতন মেলার দ্বিতীয় দিনটি কেটেছে প্রাণবন্ততা ও বাড়তে থাকা উৎসাহের মধ্য দিয়ে। মেলা প্রাঙ্গণে পরিবার, ছাত্রছাত্রী ও স্থানীয় মানুষজনের ঢল নামে, যা পুরো পরিবেশকে উৎসবমুখর করে তোলে।

স্থানীয় হস্তশিল্প, হ্যান্ডলুম পণ্য ও দেশজ শিল্পকলায় সাজানো রঙিন স্টলগুলি দর্শনার্থীদের বিশেষ আকর্ষণ সৃষ্টি করে, যা অঞ্চলের সমৃদ্ধ সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্যকে সুন্দরভাবে তুলে ধরে।

উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital-এর সভাপতি মলয় পিট, রাজ্যের প্রাক্তন ডিরেক্টর অব মেডিক্যাল এডুকেশন অধ্যাপক (ডা.) সুশান্ত বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়, পাঞ্জাব ন্যাশনাল ব্যাংকের জোনাল হেড (দুর্গাপুর) সঞ্জীব কুমার, মেডিক্যাল কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ অধ্যাপক (ডা.) অশোক কুমার দত্ত, লেখক তিলক তানওয়ার, ভাষ্যকার আরিত্রী মালহোত্রা, বিশিষ্ট শিল্পপতি সঞ্জয় মুখোপাধ্যায়-সহ বহু গুণী ও বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিত্ব।

Thalassemia Awareness at SMC MedExpo 2.0: Knowledge That Saves Lives

Life flows through blood, sustaining every moment of human existence. Yet, when a genetic disorder affects this vital element, it can lead to a lifelong struggle. Thalassemia is one such inherited blood disorder—silent, serious, and often overlooked due to lack of awareness.

With the aim of addressing this critical public health concern, a Thalassemia Awareness Programme was successfully organized on Wednesday, 26 December 2025, as part of SMC MedExpo 2.0. The programme was jointly initiated by Swasthya Bandhu, an associate organization of Positive Barta, with the active support of Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital.

The session was led by Prof. Dr. Ashok Kumar Dutta, Principal of Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital, who addressed the gathering as the chief speaker. In his insightful address, he emphasized that thalassemia is a completely preventable condition if timely awareness and appropriate blood screening are undertaken. He highlighted the importance of pre-marital blood testing and screening during pregnancy as two crucial preventive measures that can protect future generations from lifelong suffering.

Prof. Dr. Dutta also expressed concern over the continued lack of awareness and social hesitation surrounding thalassemia, which often prevents families from seeking early diagnosis and guidance. He urged the community to overcome these barriers and adopt preventive practices through education and regular screening.

The programme witnessed active participation and served as an important platform to spread awareness, encourage early detection, and promote preventive healthcare practices related to thalassemia.

CME Programme on Neo-Natal Technology: Advancing Innovation in Newborn Care

A Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programme on Neo-Natal Technology was successfully organized on Friday, 26 December 2025, as part of SMC MedExpo 2.0 at Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital. The academic session focused on recent advancements and evolving practices in neonatal care, with a special emphasis on the role of modern technology in improving survival rates and long-term outcomes of newborns, especially preterm and high-risk infants.

The programme featured insightful deliberations by the keynote speakers Dr. Santanu Burman and Dr. Subhadeep Das, both from Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital. Drawing from their clinical experience, they highlighted key innovations in neonatal monitoring, respiratory support systems, and intensive care management.
